The Balfour Declaration, issued by the British government in 1917, promised Jews a “homeland” in Palestine. For such an illegitimate and unprincipled promise, which involved handing over the Palestinians’ land to Jewish colonisers from Europe, Britain continues to pay a high price. As the following article from the Morning Star describes, Britain’s very democratic system is being dangerously undermined by friends and apologists for Israel who, it seems, will stop at nothing to suppress criticism of this grotesque little proto-fascist state.
