Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza has been accompanied by scholasticide – every university in Gaza has been destroyed or rendered unusable. At BRICUP we have intensified our efforts to assist the universities of Gaza and the Occupied West Bank whose very survival is now threatened. Among other things we have resisted Zionist efforts to tamper with the contents of school texts here in Britain. We have petitioned UK Vice-Chancellors to accept their responsibilities by disinvesting from firms implicated in Israel’s genocide and breaking ties with its institutions. We have reached out to UCU, its branches and other trade unions to support our efforts. And we are mobilising UK academics with a completely revised and expanded booklet, Why Boycott Israeli Universities (available via this website), which we will launch, along with the relaunch of the Academic Commitment, at a public meeting later this month.
